The Full form of JDS is Janata Dal (Secular). It is a political party that has its root in the Janta party of 1977. The party came into existence under the leadership of the former prime minister of India, H.D. Deve Gowda. Moreover, the party mainly has its alliance in the states of Arunachal Pradesh and Kerala. The JDS gets humongous support from these two states. Additionally, the party was available after the Earlier Janata party split into two parties. One is the Janata Party U and the other is Janata Party S. Moreover, many smaller parties of the Janata party get inside the Janata Dal in 1999. The main reason for this coalition of smaller parties was t throw out the Indian National Congress from the ruling party.

Gowda Ji was twice(two times) as President of the state unit of the Janata Party. He remained to win from the Holenarasipur assembly section on tickets of Janata Party in 1978, 1983, and 1985. He served as a minister in the Janata Party Government in Karnataka directed by Ramakrishna Hegde from 1983 to 1988. When V P Singh joined Janata Dal, Subramanian Swamy formed the Janata Party faction, and Deve Gowda Ji joined him to become Janata Party (JP)’s President of Karnataka for jp. But he fell from Holenarasipur in 1989 and soon succeeding he was rejoined, Janata Dal.

Janata Dal Secular (JDS) has many wings such as the Labour wing, Women wing, Student wing, Youth wing, etc. JDS follows the ideology of Social democracy, Secularism. The headquarters of JDS is in Karnataka. A Lady Farmer carrying Paddy on her head’ is the logo of the party.
