The ISI was established in the year 1947, on 6th January, and in June 1947, Dr. Lal C. Verman became the first director in ISI. They provide an ISI mark which is mainly a certification mark for industrial products in India. In the Indian subcontinent, the ISI mark is the most common, popular, and recognized certification mark. It ensures that the product is ensured by the Indian standards mentioned by Indian Standard Institute. Later on, ISI was renamed and commonly known as Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) which lays down the quality of the standards for consumer industrial goods. Any product which meets the BSI standards can apply for the ISI product certification, where it is mandatory to certify the products by ISI mark to be sold in India.
