The full form of HTTP is Hyper Text Transfer Protocol is an application layer that is used for transmitting, distributing, collaborative, hypermedia information systems. Since 1990 it has been founded for data communication for the world wide web. HTTP is also used for extensions of its request methods, error codes, and headers. It is a TCP/IP-based communication protocol that is used to transfer the data such as HTML files, image files, query results, etc. HTTP helps to specify clients request data which will be constructed and sent to the server and manages how the server respond to the requests. The basic features of HTTP are –
• HTTP is connectionless
• HTTP is media independent
• HTTP is stateless.
HTTP works like – when a person will enter a URL in their browser to access that particular file or page, the protocol takes the information from the server and then the response to the person back which has been requested by the person. Before the address of the page, you must have to write the HTTP. It is used to transfer the data in the form of plain text, hypertext, audio, video, and so on. It also helps to carry the data in form of a MIME-like format.

Hypertext Transfer Protocol, also known as HTTP, is an application layer used to convey, allocate, cooperate multimedia information systems. HTTP is also used to extend its request methods, error codes, and headers when individuals enter a URL in their browser to access that particular file or page.

HTTP is a protocol that can be extended and that is easy to use. The client-server structure, combined with the good ability to simply add headers, allows HTTP to advance along with the extended capabilities of the Web.

The hypertext was firstly used by Ted Nelson in 1965 in the Xanadu Project. The first documented official version of HTTP which was released in the year 1991 was written as a simple document and this version was named HTTP / 0.9. The development of HTTP was initiated by Tim Berners-Lee at CERN in 1989.

HTTP contains some common HTTP status codes. Let us have a look at them:

Code 200 indicates that the request is a successful request and the webpage exists. Code 401 shows that the request is unauthorized and you require authorization.  Code 403 shows forbidden status which means that access is not allowed to the webpage.
