The full form of EEG is an Electroencephalogram which helps to detect the electrical activity in your brain by the use of small, electrodes attached to your scalp. Through electrical impulses, brain cells can communicate with each other. It can also record the pattern of brain waves. EEG is used to perform to detect some conditions which are not usually visible unless and until you do EEG, those conditions are –
• seizure disorders which are called epilepsy
• head injury
• encephalitis
• brain tumor
• encephalopathy
• memory problems
• sleep disorders
• stroke
• dementia.
The EEG test is also used to monitor the activity of the brain during the time of surgery. Whereas if someone is in a coma then EEG performs an important role to detect the level of activity the brain is working. EEG has no risks, moreover, it is safe and painless. The EEG test has two types of results one is (a) Normal Result and another one is (b) Abnormal Result.
(a) The Normal Result is shown in the EEG report and the result means that you don’t have any type of brain disorder.
(b) And, The Abnormal Result shows that –
• epilepsy or another seizure disorder
• abnormal bleeding or brain hemorrhage
• sleep disorder
• encephalitis
• tumor
• due to a blockage of blood flow the tissue become dead
• migraines
• alcohol or drug abuse
• head injury.

EEG is an abbreviation used to define Electroencephalogram, which helps people detect the number of electrical activity in their brains by the small use of electrodes attached to the scalp portion. Brain cells mainly communicate with each other, and EEG detects the wave pattern and is not visually visible in some of the conditions unless you start doing it.

In Electroencephalogram, the electrodes are attached to the scalp which records the electrical activity of your brain. Delta, theta, alpha, beta, and gamma are the signals which are the result of EEG. They are signal frequencies that range from 1 Hz to more than 100 Hz. Hans Berger invented Electroencephalogram in the year 1929.

An Electroencephalogram (EEG) typically takes up to 60 minutes once the electrodes are in place. The normal findings are 8 Hz and waves with higher frequencies. Waves with a frequency of 7 Hz or less often are classified as abnormal in adults.
