ITI was founded in the year 1950.

The training center for the industrial area is known as ITI. The candidates can apply for this ITI course after their 10th class. ITI Course Full Form

Industrial Training Institutes (ITI) and Industrial Training Centers are post-secondary schools in India constituted under the Directorate General of Training (DGT), Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Union Government to provide training in various trades.

The ITI offers various courses running in the better known as “trades” viz. Electrician, Fitter, Mechanic, etc. The length of the courses is usually 24 months with 4 semesters in them.

Additionally, there are courses of 1 year or 2 semesters too. It’s like a diploma but with a lower education qualification. However, to join these courses students require a minimum of 10th pass and there are some courses available for the minimum 8th standard pass too.

This is a national-based certification course with a Certificate of NCVT (National Certification of Vocational Training). Furthermore, ITI certificates are more valuable in foreign countries than in India.

After completing ITI, tradesmen can undergo Apprenticeship training in different industries. The Scheme is under regulation by DGT under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship with the objective that “Training in institutions alone is not sufficient for acquisition of skills and needs to be coupled with training in the actual workplace”.

Do you know?, ITI is not even comparable to Diploma. ITI is a 2-year job determined training and certification course. ITI has a very limited scope corresponding with diplomas. After realizing ITI, Students can join the 2nd-year Diploma directly so We can say that this is a Lateral entry for Diploma.
