The Full Form of WBC is White Blood Cells. It is produced by the Stem Cells which are present in the Bone Marrow. It stores 80-90 percent of WBC. The main work of White Blood Cells is to fight infections. White Blood Cells are also known as Leukocytes. There are five types of WBC namely:
- Monocytes.
- Basophils.
- Neutrophils.
- Lymphocytes.
- Eosinophils.
The normal range of WBC in an adult is 5000-10000 cubic millimeters. It is calculated in cubic millimeters. High White Blood Cells indicate that the body of a person is producing more white blood cells than normal. Doctors named this Leukocytosis. Low White Blood Cells show the body of a person is producing fewer white blood cells than normal. Doctors named this Leukopenia.
Doctors may also go for a blood sample to test the White Blood Cell Count. A blood test is a very common test and is widely used for the counting of WBCs. The person can also take some medicines prescribed by the doctors to maintain their White Blood Cell Count.
